5 foods used to eat our prophet (ﷺ)? 🖐

Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) is an example for us in everything, including nutrition. By following the prophetic tradition, we obtain many benefits in this life and especially in taking care of our body. 🙌

Here we tell you the 5 foods that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to consume:

Grapes

Grapes are believed to be a great natural depository of vitamins and minerals. Grapes are a great source of sugars and carbohydrates, which means that they provide a significant dose of extra energy. In addition, its fast digestibility is very useful for those who experience severe physical and mental stress.

In the Qur’an it is written:

“فَأَنْشَأْنَا لَكُمْ بِهِ جَنَّاتٍ مِنْ نَخِيلٍ وَأَعْنَابٍ لَكُمْ فِيهَا فَوَاكِهُ كَثِيرَةٌ وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ”

“And then with it ( – the water) We grow for you gardens of date-palms and vines and you have plenty of fruit in these (gardens) and of these (fruit) you eat.”

📜 (Quran 23:19)

 

Honey

The beneficial properties of honey have been known for a long time. Honey cures many diseases of the circulatory system, facilitates digestion, strengthens the immune system, cures asthma, ulcers, etc.

Honey is mentioned many times in the Holy Quran:
“ثُمَّ كُلِي مِنْ كُلِّ الثَّمَرَاتِ فَاسْلُكِي سُبُلَ رَبِّكِ ذُلُلًا ۚ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ بُطُونِهَا شَرَابٌ مُخْتَلِفٌ أَلْوَانُهُ فِيهِ شِفَاءٌ لِلنَّاسِ ۗ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ”
“`Then eat of every (kind of) fruit and follow the ways (and laws) of your Lord as that have been made easy (for you).´ There comes forth from their insides a fine fluid of varying hues which is a cure for the people. Infact, in this there is a sign for a people who reflect.”

Olive oil

Regular consumption of olives (and controlled) lowers cholesterol and prevents many diseases. Therefore, olive oil reduces the harmful effects of free radicals in the body and plays an important role in cancer prevention.
Olive oil also plays an important role in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, prevents thickening of the blood and accelerates its movement through the vessels, acts as an assistant to reduce high blood pressure and prevents obesity.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“Take olive oil and lubricate your body with it, because, truly, it was taken from a blessed tree.”

Dates

The benefits of dates have been recognized by dietitians and nutritionists. In fact, its composition is so nutritious that it fights hunger by providing more than 200 calories and just over 50 carbohydrates, which provides energy.
The importance of dates can be evidenced by the fact that the word “dates” is found in the Holy Quran more than 20 times. This sweet fruit has many beneficial and healing properties.

A hadith says: “If you cannot give a pregnant woman fresh dates, then give them dried, because there is no more useful tree for a woman than a date palm.”
📔 (Umdat al Kari, 21:68).

 

Figs

Figs are characterized by their high energy value, but also by their not inconsiderable fiber content (2.5% soluble fiber) that will help in cases of constipation and provide satiety. They also relieve gastrointestinal discomfort, colic and gastritis.

In the Qur’an there is a whole chapter of the Holy Quran called according to this fruit: the Sura at Tin (The Fig Tree).

“بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ وَالتِّينِ وَالزَّيْتُونِ”
“I call to witness   the Fig , and the Olive ,”
