The diet in Islam 🥗

The Islamic diet is mainly based on eating healthy and in moderation. Everything a person eats and drinks affects his soul and his spirit. 🙏

“يَا بَنِي آدَمَ خُذُوا زِينَتَكُمْ عِنْدَ كُلِّ مَسْجِدٍ وَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا وَلَا تُسْرِفُوا ۚ إِنَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُسْرِفِينَ”

“O Children of Adam! look to your elegance (by dressing properly) at every time and place of worship, and eat and drink but exceed not the bounds, for He does not love those who exceed the bounds.”

📜 (Quran 7:31)

 

The Quran describes the foods that are allowed as Halal, and those that are healthy as Tayyib. In general, everything that is not prohibited can be consumed with the general well-being of the person and society in mind. 🌍

The prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) stated in a hadith that a man should eat enough to support himself, or at most eat in such a way that he fills one third of his stomach with food, one third with drink and leave one third empty. 👀

Foods like honey, milk, dates, grapes, olives and garlic are mentioned especially in the Holy Quran as part of Allah’s blessings, along with animals like camels, cows and sheep. 🐐

Islam considers food, as a blessing from Allah, that is needed to live and fulfill the role that every Muslim must carry out in his life. 💫

In the Qur’an, some recommendations are collected on what and how to eat and other habits that can help the Muslim to lead a fuller and happier life. 👍

Some of the most important recommendations are:

⭕ It is not advisable to eat meat every day.

⭕ The amount of fat ingested should be low, as well as the amount of salt and / or spices.

⭕ Sweets should not be consumed more than 1-2 times a week.

⭕ You should eat only when you are hungry and you should always try to get up hungry.

⭕It should not be satiated at meals.

⭕ Wasting or throwing food is considered a sin. Control the food you prepare and try to finish your meal without completely filling your stomach.

⭕ Always share with the poor or hungry for what we have.

⭕ Do some physical exercise after eating and do not sleep directly.
